ABOUT THE HOT SHOPSIn 1999, a group of established artists and interested investors purchased the 92,000 square feet old Serta Mattress Factory. The name “Hot Shops” comes from the use of high temperatures to produce the artwork made by the four anchor studios ~ glassblowing, bronzecasting, blacksmithing, and pottery. We also have 56 working artist studios with approximately eighty artists, four art galleries, and several areas that can be used for events, meetings, or exhibitions. We are open every day. In addition to working on their individual creations, this energized environment is conducive for artists to learn from each other and collaborate on projects. We have an Open House the first weekend in May and December with art demonstrations, live music, and refreshments. Please stop by to visit. I am located on the first floor in Studio # 105 ~ the one with the red door!
The Hot Shops Art Center is located just a few blocks northwest of the Qwest Center parking lot. At 10th and Abbott Dr (Cuming St.), by the 4 red towers, look for a burnt orange building behind the new stadium and the Hilton Hotel.
